not a bad shot although I would prefer the mouth closed(i understand this may have not been an option). Not a fan of the selective desat here as I am not sure what it is supposed to acomplish.

while I like the b/w conversion for this picture, I'm not too fond of the partial desat. In advanced edit you could have desaturated e.g. the tio of his nose and th blueish tint of the flag

Very nice photo except for the burned out sky. I would have looked much better if you retained the color in the sky, and didn't have the highlights blown out in the water. You can do this with multiple exposures using tone mapping to create a High Dynamic Range (HDR) image. //www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/high-dynamic-range.htm
