I kinda like this. I think it still needs just a little something, but I don't think basic editing would allow that. A better BG than a plastic cutting board would probably be a good place to start (wooden cutting board at the very least?). A shallow DOF might have worked too (although hardly for certain).

I can think of a good handful of ways that could have been used to make the squiggly one bright. I'm curious what you used.
