Nourished By The Sunby SquishyBComment by atupdate: In responce to your forum thread, here is what I see in your challenge submittal.
This image meets the challenge and you've handled the tough lighting conditions very well. However, the main subject is dead center in the picture and the trees in the background are a distraction. I would have also tried to isolate the main subject a bit more to remove the branches in the background and the trunk from the birch tree. Overall, this image has the feel of "I could have shot that" instead of "How did they do that" or "I wish I had thought of that".

Nourished By The Sunby SquishyBComment by jdfido: I like this shot, better than my attempts at this topic. I think a better composition would have helped bump up the score a little bit, maybe placing the sun in the top third of the image. |

A Gift From Aboveby SquishyBComment by cpanaioti: *** Critique Club ***
First impression : Attempt at high key
Composition: Positioning of the dog is fairly strong though maybe a vertical crop would have made it stronger. Also, cropping a little off the bottom so the nose wasn't so central I think would work as well.
Exposure: Blowing the highlights can work however I think that they still need to blend with the rest of the image. To me the change from bright to dark is too drastic. However, you did well to avoid red-eye.
Impact: Being close to the dog I think is where the impact of the image is coming from, the 'In your face' effect.
Remember, this is just one opinion.

A Gift From Aboveby SquishyBComment by anna-m: What is the point of this photograph? Cute dog but why this angle of view, why so overexposed (it certainly cant be a high-key!) etc. |

A Gift From Aboveby SquishyBComment by Haneck: Interesting idea here, but the harsh lighting doesn't really work for me. Maybe if the focus was on the eye instead of the nose? I'm sorry. :( Cute doggy though! |

A Sleeping Puppy is a GOOD Puppyby SquishyBComment by Photologist: The lighting is a bit harsh, but I understand that you probably didn't have enough time to set up (didn't want to wake the puppy). However, a little tissue over the flash would have diffused the light enough to remove the sharp shadows. |
