Greatings from the critique club :)

I really like the concept of this photo. My first thought was of the silent French film from the 1970s called "The Red Balloon." I think the dim lighting and greyish overtone are fabulous and definitely gives the feel of a rainy afternoon. However, I think the composition of the shot is lacking in a couple of areas.

First, the fence is very hard on the eyes. I almost get dizzy looking at it and it distracts the eye from what should be the obvious focal point: the red umbrella.

Second, the white line on the asphalt (basketball key, I'm guessing), also pulls the eye from the umbrella. It's a bold stripe of contrast before the eye reaches the umbrella.

Perhaps a slightly different angle to better use the lines as leading lines and a tighter crop to eliminate as much of the fence as possible would have made this a stronger photograph.

Hmmm. Kind of a stretch... Would be like a pic of an Elephant in the "Flora" challenge titled "Flora eater". :)

the splash of red really adds to this although I think maybe the composition could be better ? The tree that has sneaked into the upper right doesn't seem to belong. I wonder if you could have used some of the lines on the court more effectively as a strong lead in from the foreground to the umbrella ? A good entry.

The red umbrella is a good contrast to everything else in this picture. It really makes it stand out. This picture might've been better served to just include the umbrella and the tennis court though and left the fence out of it.

that fence makes this picture rough on the eyes, but I can almost make out the rain falling on that bright umbrella. :)

CC hello there Allen

Fits The Challenge-Yes
Composition-Okay
Background-Okay
My Opinion-That sunshine!! I can not knock sun, since I live in Oregon and we praise and worship sunshine here. 'overexposed' I see from the comments below [including mine]you've got the idea. Also it was mentioned that reducing the aperture/raising the shutter speed/or adjusting the white balance can help correct the harsh lighting. It's a little dance and you either have too little or too much. Just have to keep shooting/playing with you camera and shoot tons of pictures. Good effort, keep going keep coming up with your own unique ideas. This shot has great texture.

Severe amount of JPG artifacts and noise. You may want to re-consider your method for resizing your photos for this challenge. I really like how the red stands out in this picture though.
