Andi4.jpgby Blind_squirrelComment by wavelength: her face is a bit too far turned. rather see her shoulders turned and her face squared, than face turned and shoulder squared.
use her hands/arms to create leading lines in posing, and get her to sit up straight, shoulders back. if your modeling, you need to show off your parts, not try to hide them.
again, lighting is good in all of these. |

Andi3.jpgby Blind_squirrelComment by wavelength: good expression here, looks a bit fuzzy. up the shutter to 250, which is probably the safest sync speed and will freeze your action/hand better. - then again, it might just be resized without proper sharpening. April2.jpgby Blind_squirrelComment by Jason_Cross: I like the mystery of this shot, but since the one side of her face is so dark, have you tried croping it so the subject sits further left, and add some negative space to the right? Might be kind of cool...? |

April3.jpgby Blind_squirrelComment by Matthew: I would like to see the light catching her right eye a little more and the few strya hairs cloned out. A reflector (white card or paper at a pinch) on the other side of your model from the light would help balance the light on your model's face. |

Great action shot. It would have been nice to see the ball, but sometimes it just is not possible. :)
The focus on this is outstanding. The catcher, batter and umpire stand out nicely from the background which is just blurry enough to make them (the subjects) seem sharper and to be less distracting (though I do find myself looking at the people in the stands, possibly indicating that teh dof isn't shallow enough). Also, the colors are a nice, rich hue.
I suppose, in a field of over 200 shots, this one suffered from not having enough "wow" to really enthrall the viewer. It is a good photograph, and a score of 5.8ish is nothing to sneeze at, but in reading the other comments, I'm struck with the notion that while everyone seems to know about baseball, this shot just didn't grab them as being that unique.
Nice work, and best to you in future challenges. If I need to further clarify or explain myself, please let me know.
