Nice photo. I think the headline would be a little better if it were simpler. Like "Yacht Race Starts Amid High Winds". If it is in a newspaper then it is likely to be timely, the reader knows its 2004 and many papers only publish a morning edition so the photo would actually be from yesterday.

I'm sure you enjoyed my original comment. You needed to start with a good high contrast picture - the waves are a help, but, the empty sky is no help at all. Instead you have too much negative space in the sky and waves. To fix this - you could have cropped this picture just 10% right and left of the boat - made it into a vertical rectangle. A little magnification wouldn't have hurt .Then desat the sky and ocean - this would have fixed the negative space problem and made the boat really stand out.
