0019 - Spoon Variationsby pixelpigComment by ursula: I love abstract, and I hope I am getting used to looking at it. It is true that abstract brings different experiences to different viewers, but so do most genres really. This one, to me, is not working as an experience, and as a visual. :) |

0019 - Spoon Variationsby pixelpigComment by MacDonald: I love to have time to study each shot in this wonderful side challenge - It's so enjoyable reading other peoples comments and it is a complete treat to read your description/explanation on what was going through your mind as you created this riot of color. I like the grain when it appears - I love the feeling of depth I get when I stare into it - this is one of the times when I wish DP didn't have the rather boring generic gray background - this shot would be stunning if it was placed against an all black b/g - there would be no distractions and it would impact even more - spoons - never would that utensil have entered my mind - after a long look what makes sense to me is many cars all connecting/crashing at one central point and you photographed it with a slow shutter speed.
Your comment is so well thought out and I enjoyed reading it .. it resonates with me as trying to explain the allure of an abstract is so personal and you explained it well.
A bstract. It takes a little getting used to, if you're not used to it, but an abstract is meant to be a different experience for each viewer. Different, unique, private even.
There's that first moment when your eye is searching for something to see. Another moment of recognition. If neither one of these moments happen, there should be enough in the elements of composition, line, shape, contrast, to give the eye a reason to linger long enough for the mind, an expert at pattern recognition, to find 'something' to recognize. Every mind is unique, so every mind will recognize its own subjects.
I will fav this so I won't lose your comment as it resonates with me - thank you

0019 - Spoon Variationsby pixelpigComment by tjbel05: This is pretty cool. Before zi opened it up I envisioned a casino with all the games and lights and long halls. I was way wrong.....But I like how an abstract can make you "see" things that are not there. |

0019 - Spoon Variationsby pixelpigComment by ciaeagle: I actually really like this one. It reminds me of that moment just as I wake when all my dreams get sucked back into my mind. My favorite is the Darth Vader / planet-of-the-apes looking image in the upper left. Great colors and so much fun to stare at. |

This one looks like Christmas gone bad. I can't really explain it another way. |
