I believe some more contrast in each channel could emphasize details in your subject and eliminate the distant hazy appearance.

I get it, but feel the point would come across a bit stronger with eye contact from the deer. The lighting is a bit flat here; maybe could use a boost in contrast or decrease in brightness.
