I'm not really one for saying this, but I dont really see a connection to the challenge topic. It's very likely he may be inside something, but the shot doesnt show that and so it would be quite a stretch to say it was on topic. Outside of the challenge, other than what appears to be a light flash near his eye, it's a good catch. |

You have met the challenge by having the subject off center.
The blue cast, though it does add some interest, gives the picture an unnaturally cool look. Though you obviously could not control the lighting, you may have been able to make some adjustments in levels or something to change it, if you desired.
Dark, action shots are a challenge with any camera, not just digital, but I am wondering if using a higher ISO would have helped. I see you have a G2, and I am not certain, but I would suspect that it would allow for ISO adjustment. Perhaps you could do a search by camera and contact some other G2 owners to find out. This shot, well focused, would have had some real impact, I think.
As far as cloning out the microphone -- I don't think it would have helped your score that much, as I don't see it as a totally distracting element. As someone else pointed out, it actually serves as a balancing point almost. And, if you did clone it out, and it was detected, you would be DQ'ed which doesn't help you at all.
If you like the shot, that is what matters, so take whatever I say however you like.
Best to you in future challenges.

The "bit out of focus" is not something I could really control either unless I jumped up on stage and aksed her to stop moving, action shots and digital cameras are hard.Yes that is a mike in the shot, I could have cheated and blacked it out with none of you knowing, but I didn't, now i guess i should have... I love this shot, like I said I am not a pro, and I do not use a studio, I just take pictures, thats all, thats it.
thanx

I don't personally find it appealing because the blue color is very cool, even cold. I like to associate warmth with people, and the blue seems to say "Stand back, don't touch me." Just my opinion of course, but I appreciate when people critique my art so I know how it affects others. I hope you'll understand. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
