Summer Flowersby quicheComment by boyd2000: PAW - I love the perspective from below and the sun streaks at the top. Nice sharp flowers and good DOF. The lens flair under the sun is unfortunate, but on the other hand sort of adds to the atmosphere. I like it in B&W but I'd like to see the color version. |

Crashedby quicheComment by Melethia: I definitely agree with rotating 90 degrees to the left - will make this poignant image even more powerful. I do like the strength of the textures - almost overbearing from the tree trunk but it works well here for me. |

Crashedby quicheComment by Charlene: I agree about getting a different perspective or angle with this. But for me, as it is, the b/w seems to lack something, maybe contrast, I don't know for sure, of course. :) Just seems like more gray in the image that doesn't help anything really stand out. Although I tend to really like high contrast which isn't usually preferred :)
I do like how the birds head seems to be hiding under it's wing. It's a bit sad but poignant at the same time. |

Stub & Shadowby quicheComment by jhess77: Great texture in the wood. Might try a defuser for bright overhead sun shots.

Crashedby quicheComment by hajeka: Very nice wood textures. The angle looks somewhat strange. Not sure how to improve this one. There's not much contrast between the bird and the wood. |

Crashedby quicheComment by Covert_Oddity: It is a nice shot, and I only offer the below suggestions because you asked :)
Try turning the shot 90 degrees anticlockwise so the birds head is to the top and the wings are posed in more of a crucifix style.
Redo the B&W conversion, try it with different colour filters to bring the colours of the bird out more against the background, I don't know what your original colours are so not sure how well you can make this work, but from what I can tell there is a significant enough difference between the bird and wood to give it a try.
Try darkening the wood area, the brightness of the wood makes it more prominent than the bird which is really your focal point.
Don't know if any of that will help, but it's worth a shot! Message edited by author 2009-02-20 04:17:15. |
