It's an interesting shot, but the graininess and exposure don't work for me. It's too much.

He's certainly different! Those speckles all over the wall carry my eyes away a bit but he looks cool.

There is a clear "editing" mark along the ridge and tree line

PM received:
Hi Gerry,

You made this comment to my 'Moon Crazy' shot in the current Free Study challenge:

'There is a clear "editing" mark along the ridge and tree line'

And??? With your superior photography skills (I certainly have come nowhere near winning a ribbon) and since you've stated the obvious, I was wondering if you would care to comment on how to avoid it in the future. That would certainly be helpful to me. Thanks for your time and consideration...hope all is well.

Take care and hope to hear from you soon,
Blackbox

Additional comment:
First, I assume your comments are genuine and not facetious. I don't claim to, nor have I, superior photography knowledge. I wasn't trying to state the obvious but I assumed that since the shot was entered as it was then you were perhaps not aware of the flaw, maybe a novice etc. I simply wanted to leave a comment that explained my first thoughts on viewing the image, after all, comments are sometimes hard to come by on DPC. Please do not be offended by the comment.

As for the masking line, there are a couple of things I have learnt that may help, these are by no means the only things but the ones I know of:
1. if you used a selection, try feathering it as this "softens" the line
2. blur the mask so the edge is not so distinct
3. if need be view the image at 100% and clone out the "whiteish" pixels so that the edge doesn't have that halo effect

I hope this helps but if not, all I can say is that you can always ask in the forums after the challenge has ended and some of the more advanced editors will be able to help more

I did not care for the highly exposed postcard effect at all.
Nice Idea though!

A good idea and the title is clever. The graininess of the image works in its favour (And I presume its intended?)
