Tetelestai!by JamesKWComment by gdub1189: His love for us is amazing. How could someone bear that pain.. for wretches like us? This image is mighty powerful. It helps us to see what the life he lived on earth was for. 10, because it is a great image, but even more than that, this definately will touch people. Thank you for this, and God Bless you. |

An Old Friendby JamesKWComment by shalrath: In my opinion this is a great shot, should have scored better, but alas, there were many entries in this challenge.
I really like the concept and the use of desat. The only thing that bugs me, as most have said is the composition. For me the frame is just a tad too busy, if you could have moved some of the items in the background, perhaps included the weatherboards as a stronger element (ala leading lines) and maybe an old window or something in the mix.
However, congrats on a great capture regardless. |

An Old Friendby JamesKWComment by AdrienneGC: As far as the background, imo the pots are ok, maybe would be better if something were in them. The wire rack is a real distraction. Other than that I actually really like the image. The lighting and the wood tones of the chair relay a very warm feeling.
I also wanted to add that I think given the competition in this challenge that the score seems fair. Message edited by author 2007-05-31 09:58:53. |

An Old Friendby JamesKWComment by fotomann_forever: Composition, I believe could have been a bit stronger, perhaps a less tight crop with the chair sitting in the bottom left corner of the frame. |

An Old Friendby JamesKWComment by tjbel05: Although I scored this above a 5 based purely on technique, emotionally this photo did nothing for me. It is a "nice photo" but doesnt draw me in at all, sorry. |

An Old Friendby JamesKWComment by Retroesque: I marked you above 5 on this, I like it as a photo, but think it could have been handled different post processing (if that's your thing).
I may have been tempted to reduce the brown on the chair, less saturated and then perhaps even introduce grain or other filter that 'aged' the shot.
You called it 'an Old Friend' yet the chair itself appeared relatively new. Not sure if others saw that.
Another thought is perhaps more of the porch/deck in the foreground so the chair itself is 'less'?
Hope you get some answers that will help. It's a very nice picture. |

An Old Friendby JamesKWComment by Monique64: The photo itself is good. But I think its surroundings are not interesting. Some contrast in the background may have helped but not much because the background is devoid of anything for use to look at after the rocking chair has captured our interest. A rocking chair make us think of relaxing, comfort, cosy, but nothing else supports these or at least the need for these. |
