It's hard to discern anything of the character of this subject: it's so close up I cannot "read" anything from him. Half of his face is in complete darkness and the half that is lit, is so close up I can't see hair, or if his chin goes straight down into his neck or not...he's just half a frame of darkened skin at the moment. I understand that many like the extreme close up composition, so this is entirely subjective.

I like the clarity, but I'd like to see his other eye/eyebrow. 8

Where is the other eye? Too dark on the right side of the photo.

the lighting needs some work here. you should ba albe to see at least some of the second eye (as is more than now). a second light source would have been usefull here.

Nice natural expression son their faces. The background is a bit dull though. Also, the shadows are lacking detail (her sweater) and there is no real white in the picture. Try playing a bit with levels or curves.

It looks like she is in sharp focus, but for some reason he appears a little soft (especially his right eye - left side of image) ... even though they both appear to be about the same distance from the camera. Might little a little more DOF for this type of image. I don't mind the background, but the tree limb is a bit distracting. Best to just clone it right out.

Could use a reflector a on-camera flash to light up his eyes a bit more.

Love this picture of her. Well done with the sharp focus on her and the out of focus background which frames and complements her.

This is probably my favorite "couple" picture. Meaning the one that they would probably pick for a wedding invitation (if that's what this shoot was for).
