Comment by Melethia:
Whether or not it is, this reminds me of a flowering tree I have in my back yard - the flowers last only a week or so, then the petals fall almost as fast as they appeared. I really like the way the zoneplate picks up the light off the petals, almost like wee bits of cotton.

Comment by Melethia:
I'm quite the fan of cats and zoneplates. Somehow it captures an essence without stealing it from them. And yes, cats will always find the pillows - all the better to shed hair on them you can breathe in and get all over your face when you try to sleep on them. The pillows, not the cats. You know what I mean.

I like the way the zoneplate creates "auras" - particularly with flowers.

Comment by Melethia:
My first impression is this is a perfect subject for a zoneplate. Second impression is I'm quite envious of the detail you've maintained here in the nest and the bits. After reading your other comments, I have to say that I find it more hopeful than sad - signs of a successful mission for this particular nest - the young have hatched and moved on, ready to take their turns when the time comes building nests and raising young.

That's really neat, you're getting fancy with the ZP! I wonder if this technique would be legal in a challenge? I know double exposures in the camera are no longer allowed, but, technically, isn't this a single exposure? I'm thinking of a technique to use for the "Not Quite Right" challenge and I could steal borrow this idea if it is legal.
I do see the mug. Not sure I would have if you hadn't mentioned it.

Ha, the clumps of grass have become needles on the shadow pine tree. It's not obvious at first because there are actually two photos here. The top photo has all the glitter while the bottom photo has the substance. Could be symbolic of DPC voting trends.

If you add shadows to a smooth object is it still a smooth object? At what point/scale does a smooth object with shading acquire "texture" and does it change with blurred vision?
This photo is asking for the viewer's definition of "texture" and shouldn't be dismissed so easily. Great job.

Well, that's an amazing score. Shocking really. So much for a few more recruits to our little cult from that challenge.

Nice shot, and it's these non-traditional approaches that have really invigorated me over the last 6 months. Whether it's lensbaby, Holga, pinhole, zp or whatever. Keep up the good work!

You really did nail the texture in the white areas -- very beautiful.

Sorry about the comments you got. That's one of the reasons I've pretty much dropped out of the challenges.
