The Purple Trumpetsby ZeusComment by Zeus: Wow, you mean I didn't get last place? There should be an option to remove the photo even after voting starts. This one was a spur of the moment crap shoot that I would rather not have in my portfolio. I wonder who voted me a 10! |

Golf at Nightby ZeusComment by kari1: ::: Critique Club :::
Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.
First Impression - the most important one:
OK .. sometimes I wished I golfed so I can understand why this is exciting .. but this is a good solid shot ... even without that understanding.
Subject:
This meets the subject .. but as you see from your score this is treated slightly subjectively ... the thing I take into account .. is can the picture stand without the title .. or does it really need the title to tell the story. For electricity it needs the title ... but it is still a great night shot.
Composition:
I feel that although this meets the dimension of 620 on the long side the shot itself is very small and cramped ... I feel that it is missing something ... and it is probably the light you took out.
Technical (Colour and light):
Great fantastic and beautiful colours ... I like how real the greenary is in this shot.
To grow its vote?:
A little more focus on the electricity may have dealt with the low votes ... creating the theme linkage is important here ... as you will have learned.
Summary:
Great work .. and a lovely shot.
If you've got any questions about this critique, please feel free to contact me via the PM system.
Cheers

The Purple Trumpetsby ZeusComment by violinist123: This challenge is dominated by flower shots so you are up against a lot of competition. I'm afraid this shot doesn't fare very well in that regard. The flash lighting is a bit harsh here giving this the look of a snapshot and flattening the flowers. This might work a bit better cropped to just show the two flowers on the left or the group on the right. As it is, there is no real composition and, again, it gives the feel of something taken while walking down the sidewalk with camera in hand. Good luck! |

The Purple Trumpetsby ZeusComment by Dr.Confuser: The lighting in the photo feels flat some how. I think it may have to do with low overall contrast and a shallow dynamic range of tones. Maybe a little work with levels could expand the range and a bit more brightness and contrast would help. |

Golf at Nightby ZeusComment by Zeus: Interesting! After taking this shot, I found I had to crop out the stadium lights above it or all your attention would be drawn to them, enough to destroy the image. I left only the glow below them, and, of course, that lone light on the building. Anyway, without ELECTRICITY, golf is impossible at night. Thank you for all the comments, they ALL are appreciated. Golf at Nightby ZeusComment by oneredstar: This is a nice image. The colours are great, but besides the small light on the building, the theme of electricity is somewhat lacking. Obviously the course is illuminated by lights but i would like to see that too. 5 |

Golf at Nightby ZeusComment by Photonurd: Feels like I could just walk into the image! Great composition. Some might say electricity is not the focus here, however. But nice image still. 8o) |
