Focus & Unfocusby MonaComment by sadrzy: Wow, stunning clarity in the immediate foreground. Great color, interesting detail and nice layout. The image might have captured "opposite" more concisely had the flower in the mid-ground not been present. Rather than two layers (figure and ground / focus and unfocused), I cannot help but see three layers -- that right-most flower. So, ultimately, I think you captured a gradient of focus and not two stark opposites. |

Focus & Unfocusby MonaComment by Neuferland: This is a lovely shot, it really is and the DOF gives you your opposite requirement. But thre is something that was bothering me when I first saw the shot and gave it a 3 to start and coming back to comment and take more time to look I think I figured out what it is. I know this will sound nitpicky, but the flower you are using for your focus part is slightly out of focus on the bottom. I know, picky, but that is what got my attention the first time when I went through and scored according to title and first glance. Upon a second look, the 3 was harsh and I am raising the score to a 6 because it does meet the challenge but the one petal is really bugging me, especially since the bud to the right of it is in focus, I don't know why. But a 6, I may be back again :) |

Focus & Unfocusby MonaComment by Sweetheart02: This is a beatuiful shot of the flower! I've had hard times trying to capture things focused and unfocused like this. Good picture! |

Focus & Unfocusby MonaComment by cghubbell: I thnk this would have wored better if you'd removed the foreground rightmost flower which is out of focus, leaving only the center, focused flower. Without the title I'm not sure how well this would have met the challenge. I like to see the pictures stand more on their own. |
