hey ingrid .. i noticed this in the challenge and also after voting finished ... i should'v made a comment before now because its one of those amazing images that stay with you long after you've seen it .. in fact it was talked about in our household and wow'ed over .. !! ..
the first thing that hits me when i see this is those extraordinary colours .. so beautiful .. and nearly straight away the amazing focus on the praying mantis .. then of course comes the absolutely perfect depth of field .. it couldnt have been better .. the crop and composition .. bravo . !!
so congratulations on a great finish in the best of challenge and i'm sure your little praying mantis will do extremely well in the gem .. thankyou for your comment on my entry, which you obviously know was mine .. i did a run thru and noticed your little guy but wasnt voting at the time .. that will be rectified . !!..:)

Splendid shot! They do camouflage greatly. And are sure are a great fun to photograph and seem like they're posing at times. Really like the warm fall colors and soft light. (no vote)

One thing about Praying mantis's they do make good models. IMO needs a little more DOF.
