Yearling Arabian Coltby sfmorrisComment by Ristyz: Not a bad portrait of a gawky age. this would be even better if it was a vertical and had some of the horses chest showing to help give his head & neck a base. It also looks as if you used a lens at less than 100mm which tends to make his hind look too small for him. For horse portraits a good zoom (and back up far from them) is a must to avoid the distortion..... unless, of course, you are going for a humorous super wide angle shot, in which case it needs to be obvious that it was intentional. |

Paternal Brothersby sfmorrisComment by Citadel: Interesting capture and a unique take on the challenge especially with the similarily colored horses. The image is well framed and the heads of the horses are composed nicely using the rule of thirds. A narrower depth of field here would help blur the background a bit more and make it less distracting.
The exposure is generally good but the sky is a bit bright. Not a lot that could be done about it however if a circular polarize was available it might have helped a bit.
Good sharpness in the subjects and nice detail in the face and neck especially.
If I were to shoot this again I would perhaps try a portrait orientation as well and compare. |

American Bald Eagleby sfmorrisComment by jrtodd: I think you may have benefited by trying to have the images larger. With the small pictures it seems to me we are missing out on the details of the animal. |
