For boyd2000, the background is lit with a snooted SB-600
The flower is backlit with another snooted SB-600 and an frontlit with an SB-800 in a softbox
I think there was also a piece of white paper as a reflector under the flower

The large negative space works better for me on this than on your day 1 entry mainly because the placement of important parts here follow the rule of thirds. On the rose, the most important part is centered which makes the large negative space just feel off balance to me. But, I am not an expert, so take my observations for what they're worth.

Great detail and control of the whites. I might have cropped off about half the negative space on the right, but that's just my opinion. The textures are really great.
