I really like the simple, clean and elegent presentation of this composition. It has all the right elements for a visually appealing image but it suffers from lack of good illumination. The vibrancy of colors sometimes can be an important component in creating a visually appealing image with some 'wow' factor. The hue of the green leaf could be more vibrant and bold such that it 'pops' visually off the black & blue spots of the background. As it is in the image it appears flat and dark. With right illumination, the hue of the leaf could be rich, bold and vibrant in color without losing the detail of the texture of the leaf.

The background is so rich that becomes the real subject. I think this make the silhouette a secondary (and maybe disturbing) element.
