"a bell that now and then rings" bells are all over song lyrics, as their function is primarily sonic, like a song, and they often have powerful symbolism, as they ring for very specific reasons, like a wedding or a funeral or to mark an historic occasion. this bell looks rather personal but the angle and the framing make it seem larger than it is.... the personal made epic. Perhaps this bell marks the dramas, successes, and traumas of a single family. Only the owl knows at this point.
