Reach For The Skyby EssAreDubyaComment by corinne: It is definitely symmetrical, but I am afraid it is a bit boring. Too bad the sky did not offer more - mother nature did not cooperate. |

Joe Takes A Bubble Bathby EssAreDubyaComment by Melethia: Greetings from the Critique Club!
Initial reaction - it made me laugh out loud! A very fun shot, both the bubbles upside the head and the cheesy grin!
I will tell you that I have absolutely no idea why it scored a mid-4 - none at all. The lighting is good and even, color is good, composition works well for what you're presenting. Focus may be a little soft, but not terribly so (and I prefer "soft" to "ubersharp" anyway.) Perhaps had you used a buxom blonde female with cleavage instead of a balding gentleman.... but to me, that would ruin the effect. And it definitely meets the challenge! I see from some of the other comments (which I just read - I wait 'til I've done my critique to read 'em) that some didn't like the light, some thought the subject "creepy" - and I still don't get why it scored in the 4s.
With that I'll say please keep shooting, and whatever you do, don't let DPC scores discourage you!

Reach For The Skyby EssAreDubyaComment by JuliBoc: There's a lot of symmetry in the building, but not in the image. I think it would have been more effective for the challenge if you had balanced the two sides. BUT, challenge aside, this is a very nice shot. I like the light, patterns, and perspective. |

A River Flood As Seen From A Passing Train Windowby EssAreDubyaComment by nikuser: Greetings from the Critique Club:
Something about this image grabs my attention. It has a spooky feel to it and I think the contrast works for this image. You probably would have done better with a wider angle of view. I see you used a 17-85 zoom. It doesn't appear that you used the wide end of the zoom. People usually look for more coverage in a landscape. That said, it is quite impressive especially as it was done from the window of a moving train. |

Joe Takes A Bubble Bathby EssAreDubyaComment by zardoz: A fun ad well executed image. It seems to lack something, though I'm not sure what. It has a little bit of motion with the movement of the water but I think a bit of "action" would have helped to bring it alive and give it more personality. |
