I'm a big fan of duotones, but I'm not sure this one helps the image any. great shot, nice DOF, focus, everything. just don't like the choice of colour. it feels very cold or something. still one of the better ones in the challenge.

IMO purple was not a good choice. Good composition though and I like the shoe. I assume that an old shoe is a no trespassin sign for the illiterate?

Your lighting certainly gives the shoe some dimension and depth. The darker tones don't really add any emotional quality to the shot--only a bit of formality. Perhaps a different point of view would add some drama.
