Unfortunately I can't make this out properly as it's out of focus. I think you needed to get the horizon horizontal as well. I think the idea was a good one, and the grey sea and grey sky helps.

There is a certain amount of mystique, as if you are peeking through the trees, and you have just discovered a beautiful location. It could work really well, but perhaps if all the trees were thin saplings, and get rid of the fat birch.
I also like the feeling of solitude here. Keep shooting!

Grayce

This is a different, refreshing photo. It seems to glow in black and white, and there is a lovely marriage of bark textures and the twigs against the snow and the darker background of trees. 10 from me!

I can't really understand your composition here. You seem to be shooting through the trees instead of using them to frame your picture, and they're very distracting.

(1) COMPOSITION (CONTENT) The horizon seems to cut this photograph in half lengthwise. A better placement would have been along a line 1/3 of the way up from the bottom. This would have followed the rules of thirds, and given you a bit more of that beautiful sky.

(2) BACKGROUND I love the background here. The colors in this sky are phenomenal. You can not go wrong with a gorgeous sunset.

(3) CAMERA WORK ,TECHNICAL Exposure seems a little dark on the foreground to me. I am wondering if you use the on-camera flash to add some fill light on the foreground, if that would have improved this photo a bit. If you had added time to the exposure, you would have burned out the colors in the sky. I realize that a sunset is fleeting and you do not have time to try alot of different things, so this is the only suggestion I can make.

(4) DIGITAL PROCESSING ,TECHNICAL Good processing. I think I miught have cropped a bit tighter to remove some of the foreground. I realize that the wildflowers in the foreground were a big part of this photograph, but considering how they disappeared, I think the photo would be stronger without them.

(5)MEETING THE CHALLENGE This photo does a very good job of meeting the challenge.

(6) MY OPINION ON THE PHOTO A very interesting photo. I love the colors of the sky. I think if you had used some fill flash on the flowers this would have scored much higher. Good luck, and keep shooting :-)

IMO too much in the foreground, the trees break up what looks to be a nice landscape.

I can just see the river through the trees, but the trees spoil the shot for me.
