Yes, it is fantastic, but not really yours in my opinion (which is just as worthless as your worthless digital blue ribbon). The rant is because you want folks here to beg you for the setup. You don't really care about Brian Mumford. If you did you would have said something before folks asked how you did it. You could have praised him in the beginning and put a link to his website. Not to a link that doesn't work.
What a waste of time making the graphic. What does it prove? How small you really are! |

Thanks for pointing out the irony of my voting average also being a shade below 5, just like the OP :p I wish you had actually posted it for all to see, would have saved me the trouble! Yes, I've never entered in a challenge. Big whoop... Trust me, I'm so ashamed I'm crying my eyes out over here :-/ I joined because I enjoy seeing the technical and artistic talents of the challenge entries, which I may occasionally try to emulate in my own photography. Besides, I'm critical enough of my own pics so I don't feel the need to get 3rd party validation of them
As for your response, you're absolutely right about the 5.5 thing since we can't vote 0. On the other hand, my policy is to only vote 10 if there is literally no better entry IMO, therefore lending itself to only having 1 per challenge. In that case, one 10 out of the hundred's of challenge entries isn't likely to skew the average much, so maybe closer to 5.05 i suppose; my teacher isn't around to do the math for me... Crap, guess i'm a jerk for voting .1 below average. My heartfelt apologies go out to all the awesome pics I voted 1 on just to get my entry further up the list. Oh, wait... nvrmnd :-S
I agree that awareness-raising activities are beneficial from time to time, but there's a fine line between raising awareness and raising a stink that overshadows the message...
Feel free to keep responding with your insightful profile analyses; I'd be willing to play more math games with you but you'd most certainly win given that my math abilities are on par with my photography skills: just "average"
Dan

Friendly hint to dan_d: The average of 1 to 10 is 5.5, NOT 5. Ask your math teacher.
BTW, the awareness raising activities are always helpful so the real world has been improved from time to time. |

Actually, that profile is exactly what everyone's voter profile should look like: lots of votes, averaging out to exactly "average". Why would you expect anything else? 'Average' by definition means 'middle' (i know, 'median' probably qualifies better for that definition, but no need to get all jumpy with semantics...) so why would an average of over 20000 votes not be very near 5? I'm sure with that many votes this person has seen his fair share of crap as well as exceptional pics such as this one, so why are you trying to detract from his (very valid) criticism by character assassination?
Besides, you know this shot is exceptional, I know it, everyone who sees it knows it, so who gives a hit what random internet trolls vote or why? From the info on your website, i'd say your old enough to know that the real world just operates in stupid ways whether you like it or not... better just to roll with it and move on
