Merrickville Knightby snafflesComment by rinac: Good angle but the perspective could have been skewed more effectively if you had gotten a little closer and lower maybe? Neat subject for the challenge though :) |

Hot horsesby snafflesComment by EricMGB1974: The DOF here is good with everything in acceptable focus and the shutter speed was sufficient to stop the horse's tail. Unfortunately, the noon sun has created some very harsh lighting. If this had to be shot at this time of day using some flash for a fill light to brighten the dark shadows would have been a good idea. Even better would have been to take this earlier or later in the day when the light is a little more flattering. Compositionally, I like the positioning of the three horses, but a wider angle lens was really needed to prevent cutting body parts off the two flanking horses. |

Hot horsesby snafflesComment by JamesKW: Love the horses....other than the tail, there is not much stopped motion here for me. |

Hot horsesby snafflesComment by Skip: hot horses, standing around. if this was [b]stopped motion I[b], i could understand this take on the challenge. but, having TWO other previous challenges to look through to see what ideas were well-received and what type of images bombed, i really don't know why you would enter this, just in terms of meeting the challenge. it might appeal to some on an artistic side, but it's really asking a lot of the voters/viewers here to embrace it. if you want better scores, maybe check out this thread. |

Hot horsesby snafflesComment by theyetifanclub: Okay this is just not good, it was blurry and then it looks like you depratly tried to clear it up with sharpening (it didn't work) It also very helter skelter, the composition is all over the place. Try harder next time. P.S. It's really grainy too |

Golden Sunflowersby snafflesComment by ericwoo: Hey there from the Critique Club
Looking through your portfolio, this is your best capture to date. It is far better than 4.7, but the image size is too small. Always, always, always, always us the full size parameters that DPC allows.
Camera Work/Technical: Your focus is spot on crisp, and your chosen white balance yielded very nice, strongly contrasting colors. I can almost feel the warmth of the scene with such vivid colors.
Lighting: Your lighting is one of the main image strengths. You did a fantastic job keeping highlight details while also exposing the shadows nicely.
Composition/Content: I like the overall composition of the image, as well as the way you shot the flowers from a side-front view rather than a straight on shot. My only complaint with the composition is that it feels very crowded at the top of the frame. I'd like to have seen this one backed out just a bit so that those petals weren't touch the top.
My Opinion: Again, this is my favorite shot in your portfolio, but the size of the image killed your score.
Eric
