Yikes that poor peaman looks rather dried out. Cute shot! Lighting is a bit harsh but it helps drive home the story your title infers. Focus looks pretty good and I like the composition. I gave a 6

The only stopped motion that I can clearly see in the photo is the tail. I don't think that in this photo, the tail would be the most exciting part of the photo. In other words, I don't think that the stopped motion is the main subject here.
I think that this is more of a still life than a stopped motion. Just doesn't seem like much motion involved here. I think this is one reason for lower votes in this challenge.
My eyes are automatically drawn to the almost full horse on the left of the photo. He appears to be looking toward the camera, we have an interesting angle on him, and he's the largest part of the photo. In my opinion, he's the main subject of the photo. That being said, the lighting on that horse is horrible. The only thing making him not a complete silhouette is the small section of light on his nose. Even his eyes are completely darkened in. As someone else suggested, a fill flash might have helped to give the left horse some more detail. A different time of day, or maybe a different day might have helped with the dull sky as well.
I think the 1/2 horse on the right is a distraction, even if he IS suposed to be the main horse, because he is going out of the photo, I feel that he's more of a distraction than anything.
The background looks level, which is something a LOT of people, including myslef, overlook in shots like these. So I give you points on that.
I like the low angle and the fence in the shot. eVen though the bottom rung of the fence goes almost straight through the center of the photo, It hink it works because of the angle of the upper fence rung.
With 3 horses just sitting around, I can't help but think that a shot of one of them prancing, or jogging might have been better suited for the stopped motion challenge.
Not sure if you can set the shutter speed on your cam or not, but definately a quick shutter speed would help to give a stopepd motion look. In my opinion, this shot of Bailyis an excellent stopped motion shot with great lighting. I love that shot.
I wonder what you used the smudge tool on? I cannot see an obvious reason to have used that for this shot.
