Redhead with a Canon :-)by snafflesComment by RulerZigzag: Hello from the Critique Club
PROS: Technically sound portrait, doesn't feel like a candid, or much of a setup, almost like a snapshot but also directed somewhat. And I actually think its cropped pretty good. I don't see any wasted area in the frame, and the exposure is good, a bit conservative maybe, could improve on contrast.
CONS: Overblown in areas. I think you had a window to work the shutter up a few stops for a better colorful contrast. Whites are dominating here. Some grays would help.
VERDICT
Average at best, Id say slightly under-rated, but nothing smiting. PM me if you have questions or answers about this critique.

Bellyby snafflesComment by salmiakki: Greetings from the Critique Club
Susan, me again!
Well done on a good score in a tough challenge.
Great composition, good choice of subject and I like the white background. The lighting is also rather good and accentuates the colour of the flower well.
I think you could have tipped over to a 6 if the background was a little whiter. The top right quadrant is a little grey and I think this probably cost you a point or two. Also, the flower seems a little bit soft to me. I have that lens too and find at the longer focal lengths it is really quite soft.
All in all though this is a nice one. |

Bellyby snafflesComment by Melethia: Really nice use of light to show off the color and delicate nature of this flower. Good solid composition, and I see you have the DPC water drops! :-) |
