The European bittern is incredibly rare in Britain, and it looks as though its American cousin is just as shy. Despite the fact that the bird is masked by the rushes, an extremely well taken nature photograph, that shows the photographers understanding and knowledge of the bird's behaviour.

I wish I had yoru description available when voting on this image. It didnt grab me during vote - I was one of your 5s. I like how the sparks reflect off the teeth - but the concept in general didnt connect with me.

However - after reading your description I found a new appreciation for the image - a better understanding of what you were shooting for. It completes out the image much better for me now.

I know this doesnt affect your score nor does it offer any photographical commentary (not sur eif photographical is a word). But I am glad I pulled this image from the queue. I dont go back often enough to look at image safter challenge.
