So first things first: Your shot meets the challenge well, with a number of different black objects. You̢۪ve also got a variety of shades of black, which I think really is really good. Regarding the variety of hues, however, I think that things might be improved a bit by lowering the exposure just a tad to make the shadows and crenulations on the coat more prominent. I̢۪m also left wanting to see the bottom of the hand and the cuff. This is rather minor though, and what probably is the most distracting to me is the blurring on the backside of the hand, as noted by others. I like the shot though, and also that it isn̢۪t a complete studio stock shot, which are fine, but I enjoy some variety as well.

The left side of the image is nice and sharp and crisp while the right side is sort of blurred or not quite sharp. It may be due to using a very low aperture like f1.8 or so and getting a field of focus of less than an inch. But it definitely goes from the wrist to the right jacket lapel. You can see it on the zipper and the snap. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

Oh, Snaffles, we meet again! And what a fun entry you have in the Free Study. It is easy to see why you would select it to put in the Challenge.
Some of your comments noted that the sky was a bit bland, and I played with your image just a little using Shadows & Highlights. Now that's a very useful tool for situations such as this, and I found it put a bit more light into that clever horse's neck and deepened the blues dramatically. Just a thought, of course.
Your "V" with the fence poles and the clever boot at the right top worked quite well but could have stood a bit more color. Nevertheless, this, as Melethia says, is cute and quirky and I'm glad to have seen it again.

Here are my comments:
1 - So much contrast. The orange explodes here... and it does not helps...
2 - The subject is very close. I had to read the title to understand the theme. Here I believe you could do the photo a little more distant of the subject.
3 - The photo is in the vertical position. I think you could make this in a horizontal position. This would give more stability to your image.
Hope you like the ideas.

The POV does create a fun, humorous feel with the horse's head appearing to be HUGE in comparison to his skinny little neck. :-) Good luck in the challenge. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
