Haha... I can SEE you!!! (in the reflection in her eyes) Nice job. I love the way her eyes light up. I don't care for the color of her shirt though ... not your fault, but I just don't think it works so well. And maybe the saturation was boosted too high (?) because her forehead seems a little splotchy to me. (note: new monitor here, not sure how well it is calibrated yet! please take comments with a grain of salt)

I think when people see the word Portrait, they think 'serious'. This is a fun portrait, great technically (dof, lighting, focus). Think people scored it low because it wasn't serious, which is a shame because it is quite nice. Reading your description of your friend, looks like you captured her true self, which makes a great portrait.

wonderful and natural! even though her eyes are kind of squinted they are still bright and active and draw the viewer in. great colors as well!
