About as candid as an image can get, it suffers from something that is undefinable. The expressions on the members of the horse patrol are good, but this could have been a little more effective by changing the angle and concentrating on one or two members of the patrol. From a technical standpoint, it is properly focused and just a little darker than it should be. Given the difficult lighting situation, the author did well to make it as colorful as it is. From an artistic standpoint, it just doesn't seem to be compelling. It is, however, a good candid image and worthy of the challenge.

More a image of the use of lighting than a creative use of lighting. It's hard to rate this because of it's nature. It might have been a better approach to find a subject and then use the lighting to create the image rather than of the light itself.
