Isn't every day that dawns successful? What would it mean for a day to fail to dawn? You have some very nice colors in the sky, but I think there's too much silhouette. A tighter crop would help.

Well, I certainly like your idea for such an entry. The huge, round sun in particular is perfect with a nice flare coming off the top of the building.

I think that there are a few small things however, that could make this photograph stand out more. First of all, your choice of building isn't the most interesting; there isn't even a pane of stained glass. Secondly, you've had to take it at an angle to capture the sun and this slightly ruins the focus of the photo Finally, your shutter speed could have been higher to get rid of that graininess on the building that digital cameras tend to add when they overcompensate for dark areas. Perhaps playing around with the backlight settings on your camera a little could also improve the image to show that 8.2 megapixel processing power.

I think that another reason that this picture didn't quite get the rating that you may have hoped for would be because it isn't all that relevant to the challenge. There isn't actually anything apart from the shape of the building to show anything 'holy'.

As a photograph for taking a good sun picture, I think this is perfect and well implemented; however for an image for a holy place, it lacks the detail that voters require.
