THISTLE.jpgby mortyComment by amandalore: I also see the focus being too low, it makes the blurred bloom in back fight for attention with the top right side of the bloom in front. The colors are great and the crop is nice, I would like a little more space to both sides (right/left) of the photo, more on right side than left, and depending how that looked and what else was there, maybe a tad more to the bottom. awesome pic though, nice job |

blackbirdby mortyComment by amandalore: wow, the thick black frame is definitely a nice touch. I also like the DOF and the composition. only thing, just maybe a tad more space below the feet if you could have and a touch more detail on the bird. maybe you could mess a little with curves, or try USM (start with 25/60/0, and go from there, works wonders with landscapes, might work for this) nice photo, now I'm off to see the rest! |

Fenwick-Sunrise.jpgby mortyComment by Kaizer: I got a weakness for sunsets & sunrises. Like the way the foreground can be made out, nicely composed. Looking forward to seeing your entries in the challenges. Ev |

THISTLE.jpgby mortyComment by UNTITLED: I agree with Louis, the color and DOF are great. Even the composition is very nice. I do think you're photo is very sharp, just not in the right area. I would think you would want to emphasize the bloom at the top, but the point of sharpest focus falls further down on the stem. Or possibly, you went too shallow on the focus. Again, I really love the color on this photo! |

blackbirdby mortyComment by UNTITLED: I like the nice tight crop, and he really stands out against the background with the shallow depth of field. Some overexposure might help you get some more of the birds detail, black subjects are always difficult. But it also would of brightened up the background, maybe too much. I guess it depends on what you're going for, but being that close you probably want the detail.
Welcome to the site, it can be a lot of fun and very addictive during challenge voting. |

Blue-Tit.jpgby mortyComment by robshookphoto: great contrast, sharpness, etc. The only thing is that photos in general should not have important elements centered, but i do undestand from experience how hard it is to autofocus on a non centered subject. |

blackbirdby mortyComment by cpanaioti: Your composition takes advantage of the diagonal space and the exposure brings out the detail of the birds feathers without blowing out the highlights. |

THISTLE.jpgby mortyComment by Louis: Great colour and interesting depth of field. If it were sharper, it may enhance the effect. |
