A Shadow of His Former Selfby raishComment by agenkin: A very nice use of a longer-than-normal exposure. There is an interesting idea I learned from another photographer: he remarked that, since the invention of more sensitive film, all portraits are being photographed at exposures of 1/60s and faster, whereas before that, photographs were shot at much longer exposures. This way technology changed the way photo portraits are made. That photographer has a number of portraits photographed at exposure times of 1/2s and longer, with an interesting effect. The slight movements of the models add a unique degree of softness to the pictures, just like can be seen here, in the model's face.
In this photograph I don't like the blown white background, and the cat didn't quite turn out great IMO. But I'm giving this an 8 for the experiment. |

Battle of Nomanslandby raishComment by lovethelight: I am not sure I understand what is going on here and what the purpose of the blown light is or what it is trying to say. The lighting feels off to me. |

Battle of Nomanslandby raishComment by Arcanist: I find the workshop background, tape and plastic to be very 'shoddy' in the concepts execution. The major blow out is extremely distracting. Overall does not appear a lot of thought or effort went into taking this, except to just take a photo.
