I'll admit, I'm a bit confused by this one. I'm not sure how it relates to the challenge, and the title isn't helping much. I don't really see a connection between the plant and the lava lamp, and I don't understand why you called it a larva lamp. Anyway, all that being said, I kinda like this as an abstract shot. It has a neat green glow to it, and I like the little blobs sticking out of the bottom... the one reminds me of a snail. Hope something in all that ramble was helpful :)

I like the concept. Just wish the photo was cropped a bit more to but more attention on the dancers, plus the lighting and sharpness are not good

You beat me by two places! Actually, I would have placed this even higher. It is a great study of the subject matter and one of the better entries that conveys the challenge. Wonderful focus. The lighting is pretty good, a bit harsh in some spots but overall well exposed. Just curious if you placed any of the items? What I like is the monotone colors of all the items on the shelf and just a splash of color from that matchbox (?). I think if you would have placed that box on a more eye focused section it might have had a bigger impact. Just a minor suggestion. Really, this is a terrific image!

there seems to be a general theme of shooting things you love without actually expressing the theme of love itself

so to me.. a shot that does not show love is not a love shot and therefore doesn't meet the criteria
