I thought I'd offer a few comments for what they are worth. First, I was really quite surprised by the DQ. I try carefully to stay within the guidelines as they are documented. They don't specifically state that a vignette is not allowed and I looked at it more as a global adjustment, even though it affects certain pixels more than others (in my mind not dissimilar to a saturation adjustment affecting say red pixels more that blue). The affect of the photograph is not significantly different without the vignette so it really wouldn't have made much of a difference not to have it. I do feel that the addition of this rule to the description of Basic Editing would help others avoid the problem in the future.

Looking at my scores clearly voters didn't care for the picture anyway (especially eyeweave, at least he commented and told me what he thought which I can appreciate). I don't agree with him, I specifically took and processed the photo with the final look in mind, if he or others don't like it it's not due to bad processing (IMO). If posthumous likes the shot then I'll take that as a very positive note.

Finally, I want to make it clear that I am not arguing or protesting the decision.

Unemotional to me personally. Technically speaking, nothing that catches my attention either.

Another photo DQed for the rather, in my opinion, arguable "Adding a vignette during RAW conversion is considered spot-editing." This DQed me in a recent challenge as well. I *really* wish the site council would clarify the Basic Editing rules to specifically mention that they consider vignette a "spot edit."
Sorry about your DQ -- I think this was a great entry.

Not sure if the vignetter is legal here but this is a very striking image, the white around him really isolates him

posthumous will love it, but I don't think, overprocessing makes a bad shot better, no matter what your intentions were or if there's a message conveyed. a honest 1 from me.

I like how you use the blown out areas to isolate your subject
