Hey there from the Critique Club

Camera Work/Technical: Nice focus and great depth of field use. Great WB for a very nicely toned image.

Lighting: The lighting is very nice, as well. Your exposure is very even and controlled, thus producing a very appealing image.

Composition/Content: It is a little too centered for me, but I like the way the vine draws the viewer down into the frame and over to the butterfly.

My Opinion: It missed the challenge by a mile, but you were not alone. In my opinion, an environmental portrait is of a person in their work or play environment. It is an area around them that provides at least a partial definition of who that person is. Nature alone isn't an environmental portrait for me. You have a very nice image, but just not for this challenge.

The flat lighting and shadows are a bit distracting to me. Nice representation of the subject's personality though!

Would a tighter crop help with the intimacy of this statement?

Would have beenn more dramatic with: 90 degree side light and vertical crop

This is a beautiful serene picture! maybe you could mess with the colors to make them more vibrant, but I think you did a great job with the composition and smooth flowing water, nice work

wow, this is a nice photo that you could really perk it up using bear_music's PS tip on gradients for the sky and water. Also, maybe you could bring out the warm colors that are above and below the mountains, great vertical landscape shot!

this is a cool shot with the snow and the sun, great sunburst too. I would straighten out the horizon and after that maybe cropping a bit of the bottom a little, not too much though, also, maybe try messing with all of the settings in PS like contrast and hue/saturation, but this photo has great composition and a lovely subject, I love how you framed the sun, setting over the beautiful mountains, with the trees and snowy foreground, nice work

This is a nie shot. Really great capture! Only thing I wold change is cloning out the sun spot. I know you used basic editing but short of reshooting I don;t know how one could remove that spot. Atfter the sun, it holds the focal point. Good stuff!

Greetings from the Critique Club!

Technicals:
In terms of lighting and color it's very good. This is a very sharp looking image. In general this image captured night quite well.

Subject/composition:
When I first saw this I didn't think this was a bridge since the main focus is the building structure. This would have been a better image had you shot this landscape style with the structure to the left. That way you would have the main focal point off-center and also include more of the bridge in the shot for people to identify with.

Another thing is the size of the image. It's quite small. Images like that are always going to be at a disadvantage since detail is harder to see and appreciate.

Verdict/Summary:
Overall this image has a lot of quality to it. Probably the best I've seen for an image of this size in the challenges and definitely one that scored so low that met the challenge. So good job there. If the image was larger and composed a bit differently I think this would have scored much much higher. That's all I have. Good luck on your next challenge and I look forward to seeing more of your work!
