::: Critique Club :::

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.

WOW first submission .. try to make this painless!

First Impression - the most important one:
I love this shot ... it is a unique way od doing a candid ... It is amazing what people take offence to ... so suck it in and see :)

Composition:
I really like the balance of this shot ... The lines in this shot work really well ...

Subject:
Meets the challenge well ... he really doesn't know you are there ... good shot!

Technical (Colour and light):
Hard to comment colour on a black and white .. but this is NOT a black and white overkill it really does suit this shot. I like the natural lighting ... Agree with the minor reduction in brightness ..I often do this and upping the contrast just brings out clear lines. I think that mentioned in the comments is that one commentor wanted to see more of the pictures .. this is probably in the DOF you used .. I think that this worked as it was.

To grow its vote?:
Every way is up ... this is your first challenge I expect good things ... think about all the rules .. you will learn them at DPC ... and take in the many positve comments you receive ... remember to filter what you hear - no one is perfect!

Summary:
5.259 173 / 393 56% for a first entry ... keep this up! You are good!

If you've got any questions about this critique, please feel free to contact me via the PM system.

Cheers

Kari

Comment by MarioPierre:
The stiching on his shoulder is quite distracting, not sure if that's a good thing or not but I like it. The entire image is quite good as well.

Very interesting photo, I wish his drawings were exposed a bit less so I could see more detail.

I'm not much for receiving or giving comments, but since Candids are
near and dear to my heart, I have decided to give comment on every entry
in this challenge.

Well, I have to tell you I do not like this shot and would have reshot it from another angle. I think the words on the shoulder are quite vulgar and shock value will not gain points by me. However, I do like that the guy is actually drawing and doing someting besides just sitting there. The tones are good. Focus is nice. Too bad about the words though. I give it a 4.

This shot is good and i really like the fuckcars personally stitched into the sweater, but it would have been nice to see some more detail in the notebook maybe by working with curves
