Sorry but the selective desat is just not appealing to me, personally I would have liked this shot heaps better if it were all in color or all b/w.

Beautiful child and wonderful idea to show her in this environment. The selective desat seems arbitrary because it moves the eye away from the main focus ( her beautiful face and the needle).

Perhaps, making it plain enough that she is injecting herself without having to put that in the title would make a more effective photograph. You selective de-sat actually works against what your title suggests is the intent of this image, dragging the attention to completely the wrong place on the figure. It has potential though, this shot - but I don't think it succeeds; and that de-sat remains mystifying.

Your title leads me to believe that there is more to the image than I can see. The foreground seems a little too dark for the overpowering brightness in the top. This difference is making it hard to understand what the photo is about. - 4
