experiment.jpgby walrus451Comment by Charlene: It's always great for me to see what can be done! Being so new, sometimes I don't think to try different things. A lot of times, I don't think of the actual different things, lol! Thanks for having some fun with this and showing the results and giving the steps. I'll definitely keep them in mind to hopefully grown in my own skills. Thanks again! |

experiment.jpgby walrus451Comment by walrus451: Day 13 experiment with Charlene's (dcnfarrell) very cool looking image...(thanks for letting me give it a try)
just made a few small changes....not to say it's better ..(because there is absolutely nothing wrong with your picture).....just different....i increased the contrast by setting the white and black points in levels, the burned the clouds slightly and dodged the cow and shelter....then slight sharpen (usm), lumminosity channel only...mine is below:

Day 12by walrus451Comment by SandyP: Dang there's another one of these aMAZING photos with the dramatic smoke! This is AWESOME!
On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give it an 11. It only misses being a 12 because I think I might have cloned out the water tower and power lines -- but even so -- it is wayyyyy off the chart in outSTANDING!

Day 12by walrus451Comment by JerseyGenie: I agree that the border really works well here. I normally don't like borders in general, but it really is a nice addition here. That's half the battle figuring out when a border works and when it doesn't. However, that's a small matter. The photo is stunning, the smoke, the lighting, the tonal range, the everything is right. |
