Challenge
- Relevant to the Challenge? Yes with a unique topic.
Compostion
- Good or Bad? How can it be fixed? The composition is good. Nice use of an almost square format. The dog at the lower left "power point" and the baby at the upper right "power point" makes for a strong image.
- Good use of Depth of Field? Yes. The background is nicely out-of-focus while the subjects are in focus. The baby could be a little sharper in focus.
Lighting
- Good use of light? Overall yes, but as mentioned by other below the background is overblown. The light on the side of her face are a bit distracting.
- Good use of shadows? The shadows on her face are very delicate. A little less light might have them show up a bit better.
Aesthetics/Artistic Appeal:
- Colors and Contrast. Hmmm... I don't have much to say here. It's a draw, but I don't know how I'd improve it.
- Sharpness. Use some Unsharp Mask to sharpen her features a little.
- What is my reaction or feelings? That expression is fleeting. You snapped at just the right time. You captured the instant of bonding. You can almost see the dog assessing if this one is worthy of it's attentions.
Good work on your first time out. Don't rest on your laurels though. It can be tough at times. ;)
