Remarks: I have no idea what this is (a good thing/I've seen more than I care for). Neither can I tell whether the mystery is one or if it's an ambiguity achieved by effect(s). As a photographer, this would be something I'd like to avoid.

An "intrigue" would have similar connotations. And I'd "buy" the image (without any further explanation).

This seems almost like an editorial portrait. The despair is communicated, but I am having a difficult time seeing this as an environmental portrait.

I really like this capture, it certainly has a lot of emotion and a very heavy mood. The light -> dark transition is outstanding and the sharp focus the subjects face is excellent. I welcome this image as one of my favorites.

The face of the subject is rather dark and noisy. I would have preferred more of a crop on the top. Also, I don't really connect the title with the picture. Without the title I would have just thought it was a girl looking down...4

I wouldn't have "got" this photo had it not been for the title. With the title it's definitely a moving shot.
