Diversityby Rino63Comment by Nuzzer: Greetings from the Critique Club.
First impressions are that this is a very good shot of a pear. The crop makes this very big and it stands out.
Technically This is good but there are a couple of areas that could be improved. The apple on the left is quite prominent even though blurred due to the stalk, removing the stalk would have softened it's impact. The DOF is quite shallow and that means the stalk of the pear is OOF and we are thus left with more of a study of texture of the pear than a still life. The centred composition works quite well.
Artistically this is not so strong. It's a pear sitting on some apples and that's about it. I think this is what hurt your score more than anything.
In summary this is an ok shot of a pear but lacks the special something to make the voter think it is anything more than that.
Feel free to PM me if you have any queries.

Paris-Montmartreby Rino63Comment by sfalice: GREETIngS FROM THE CRITIQUE CLUB
Oh, I am SO envious. You were in Paris last year and I was not. Not only that, but you captured a great street scene.
Interesting. You finished just about in the middle of the pack in this demanding "Best of 2009" Challenge. And that is just about the way your comments split on your treatment of this scene.
HDR, Topaz. Like? Don't Like? That is the question.
My personal opinion is that you have taken this excellent image almost to the point of illustration and if I was lucky enough to call it mine, I'd probably do it more in a photographic way. But this fine image is yours, not mine.
You had fun with it and it shows very nicely. that's what counts. Keep up the good work.

My prefered pieceby Rino63Comment by EL-ROI: I personally think the woody thing is a bit overdone. It's a great toy for personal figure studies and posing. Perhaps it would be great used as a part of a series. The picture on the other hand is very good. Such rich colors are hard to get with the white background. You got great exposure. |

Napoli-Via Santa Luciaby Rino63Comment by wolf: I really enjoy the right hand to middle side of this image. I'm not a big fan of the distorted lamp post though. |

Diversityby Rino63Comment by glad2badad: Woah! That baby sure jumps out at'cha! Wish the top of the pear was a little sharper. The blue in the lower left bg grabs some serious attention also. |
