The seamstress of the shepherdsby Rino63Comment by jblaylockrayner: Nice Image - Like the way we are looking in on her world. I cropped off the top a little to just where the light is and it makes the image stronger I think as our eye is taken up and away from the subject due to the fussy top of the frame. Like the lighting |

The seamstress of the shepherdsby Rino63Comment by LynnS: great capture... love the light on her face , texture of wall, cross, frames etc...
couple of distractions though: i.e chair front right..
noted the "frame" - but.. by doing a bit closer crop (and losing the frame), most of the distractions would have disappeared... and I would have added a point or two! |

End of my preferred plantby Rino63Comment by jaysonmc: Hello from the Critique Club.
Let me start off by saying that blue background is wonderful, I really like how it changes colors subtly in the frame. Also the detail on the leaf is spot on. Those eaten wholes really give a good interest. I also really like the placement of the subject how it pops out of the corner and twists around in the frame.
Some things to consider for the challenge and in general. While I really like the subject here, I think having the whole leaf included in the depth of field might have been a better choice. I think you loose a bit by having the front of the leaf slight of of focus. As for scoring, it most likely has to do with the subject title tied back to the challenge description.
This would have done much better in a floral challenge. It is an excellent still life study with a tons of good merits. |
