a simple and familiar composition, but in a strange and unfamiliar world. Your processing only helps the unfamiliarity. The window? next to the door looks more like the scar of a half-forgotten door. The chair is being sucked into it. The sparse details are exquisite: The flowers on the chair, the grooves in the door. The stony textures on every plane flatten this picture out. The "sculpting" shadows do create a 3-D effect, but it doesn't quite match a sense of fully realized 3-dimensional space.

If you had moved the olive over to the right just slightly so there were some white between it and the flower on the plate I think it might have been just a little bit better. However, I like it anyway.
