While I don't understand your picture in terms of meeting the challenge I also feel that the lighting is slightly too harsh on the eyes and the heavy shadows on the top of the face do not seem to suit the image.

I really like the concept and the execution of this - very well thought out and definitely one you'll want to frame and hang for the sentimental value. I think the only thing I would have changed would be to have lit the lantern if possible (which you may be able to do in post processing, but I'm not smart enough to tell you how). I love the dress, and I like the dark, aged look of the tones.
