A Photographer's Guide to Fishingby BeeCeeComment by levyj413: Oh, what a gorgeous shot! All of it - the curve from one side to the other, the DOF, the use of the rule of thirds, the high contrast ...
That does it. Between this and the others of yours I've just been commenting on, you're now one of my favorite photogs.
After all, us S2 ISers have to stick together. :) |

dpc-9651-studio4.jpgby BeeCeeComment by levyj413: *laugh*
I just LOVE shots like this, where normal people who don't have a huge studio show us how it's done. I'm thinking of setting up something like this in my basement. My initial budget is about $5: for a couple of pieces of posterboard and some black cloth as backdrops. Oh, and one of those LED lights. Maybe a flashlight with some wax paper over it. :) |

Flower Bedby BeeCeeComment by levyj413: Ha! Another creative effort.
Please keep on going for the creative shots. You'll nail the photography end eventually. Me, I'm struggling to find things to shoot in the first place!
I'd be curious to see you put this up in the forums and see what someone could do with in post-processing. I've been astonished at how much people improved one of my shots.
Then you: a) learn what else you could do and b) get to post an edited version that looks even better. :) Message edited by author 2006-07-13 22:51:05. |

That Certain "Spark"by BeeCeeComment by levyj413: I like this a lot!
First, because you actually made something. I mean, the other bazillion entries really found good ways to capture something other people created, but you had an original idea.
Second, because I think it's an attractive shot. Some of those sparks on the left look like little bugs flying away. |

That Certain "Spark"by BeeCeeComment by Judi: For what it's work...I gave you a 6. I knew it was an outsider and I felt the effort you went to was warranted. |

Twinkle Twinkle Little...Pushpin?by BeeCeeComment by acrotide: It's unfortunate that so many people have a closed concept of what stationery means, as I'm sure your score suffered from it.
What I like about this shot is the simplicity, the creative lighting and the focus of the two pins in the front. I think I would have preferred a little more DOF to either just get the closest pin totally in focus, or perhaps even to get a few more of the pins a little more focused...not sure which would be better. After some time, I finally noticed the bit of red on one of the pins, which might be a distraction for some.
Don't let your score or the DNMC comments get you down. Just learn what you can from the shot and the comments, and use that in your future challenges :) |
