Wing Replacementby pointandshootComment by Chinarosepetal: I've spent a long time looking at this and I think it is a macro of flower stamens. I can't fit that with your title or the challenge. However, it is a good, intriguing image:) |

A true honor. More cherished than a DPC ribbon.
I read an article in "Nature Magazine" describing how scientists have recently discovered that insects do not devour flowers for the nourishment. Instead, because the complex structure of an insect eye renders the perfectly formed petals of most flowers into a type of ultramoire pattern, the insect develops an intense headache. To alleviate this migraine, an insect will chew every petal of their home into irregular, insect-eye-pleasing shapes. In reality, insects hate the taste of flowers and would rather eat just about anything else. I thought that was interesting.
However, not all insects abuse Neat Image to the degree demonstrated in this photo.
