Ambergrisby xianartComment by xianart: thanks, smardaz, for the defense, but it's ok. the work is out there, it's a valid comment. my titile is somehwat confusing as to whether i just don't know the difference. but, i need a suitably simple and restrained title to clear it up, and i don't have one yet, so, ambergris it will be for a while, until the imagination kicks in... |

Ambergrisby xianartComment by smardaz: Originally posted by pineapple: There's a difference between amber and ambergris. Ambergris is a very expensive perfume base which come from a whale's insides - in other words the whale excretes ambergris to coat irritating particles in its stomache and then at a later date ejects it. The ambergris is collected on beaches around the world. In its pure state, it is foul smelling but when diluted many, many times it forms the base for perfumes. As I say, it is extremely expensive. The necklace you have up there is amber: fossilized resin from a pine tree. Maybe you should re title the photo and then I can delete this comment ;-) |
or maybe you could be a little less anal and chalk it up to artistic interpretation? |

Deer Hereby xianartComment by bmartuch: This is a very interesting shot. What I like most is the effect that the processing has on the surrounding snow. I don't know if the lighting is from the processing or natural but I like the way it tightly surrounds the foot print. |

Deer Hereby xianartComment by mist: Yeah. Personally I think it's a well-toned and detailed shot, but you were always going to get killed by the strict DNMC crowd. Shame. |

Deer Hereby xianartComment by noraneko: Hmmm, I thought this was a very interesting entry and scored it accordingly. I especially liked the OOB entries in this challenge, and thought you did particularly well with the cool processing. I also kind of think the track has an anthropomorphic look to it - almost like a face grinning back at you. |

Deer Hereby xianartComment by BakerBug: I am shocked that this ended up where it did. Please don't be discouraged by how narrow minded a lot of the voters here can be! This really is a good photograph, and IMHO fits the challenge very well. |
